A high-school teacher in Fairbanks, Alaska, has been placed on administrative leave over remarks she made during a class discussion on police killings, KUAC reported.

A video of the discussion - which happened during a virtual class meeting - was posted to YouTube last week.

While school officials have not named the teacher, she is addressed as "Ms. Gardner" in the video, and a Connie Gardner is listed as a special-education teacher on the Lathrop High School website.

She is heard lecturing students about recent police killings, including those of Daunte Wright and Ma'Khia Bryant, arguing that the media disproportionately focuses on incidents involving white officers killing Black suspects and defending officers for having to make split-second decisions in charged situations.

At one point in the video, she turns to the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died in Minneapolis last year after a white police officer knelt on his neck for several minutes. Last month a jury found the officer, Derek Chauvin, who was fired over the incident, guilty of Floyd's murder.

While the teacher said she did "not agree" with Chauvin's actions, she said Floyd failed to "comply" with officers' orders to get in the back of a squad car and it resulted in his death.

I do not agree that the Chauvin guy was right - I think he abused his authority, and I think he went too far. And I think that he was complicit in George Floyd's death. I think that there were many factors that contributed to it, and that was one of them," the teacher is heard saying.

"But if George Floyd had ... just sidled into the car, slid in there, and let them put his legs in, he would be alive today and you know that's true," she added.

"So that's my message to you ... If any of you find yourself in a situation where you are - justly or unjustly - being addressed by the police and ordered to do something, please comply. Do not fight the cops. Don't try to run away."

The teacher went on to imply that her students were less likely to draw attention from the police because of the way they dressed.

"Here's the thing too," she said. "Look at how you guys are dressed. You guys are dressed nicely - you don't look like thugs. You don't have your pants down around your knees."

Teacher was called out on video

It was then that a woman - who identified herself as a tutor - pushed back on the teacher's comments, saying the way someone dressed shouldn't factor into whether they were targeted by the police.

The woman who recorded the video also spoke up soon after that, identifying herself as a mother who overheard the discussion while her kids were attending the class remotely.

The mother said she was a woman of color who had experienced racism and said the teacher, as a white woman, was "uneducated" and unable "to address these things that are going on in the world today."

The video ends with the mother telling the teacher to "stop this conversation."

'Racially insensitive'

On Tuesday, KUAC reported that the teacher had been placed on administrative leave. Insider has contacted the school district for an update and to Connie Gardner for comment.

The school's principal, Carly Sween, also wrote in a letter to parents last week that the teacher's comments were "racially insensitive" and that officials had met with students in the class to discuss what happened, KUAC reported.

Columnist comes to teacher's defense

A columnist for the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman defended the teacher in an article Friday, saying she was only preparing her students for the real world.

"The world is a dangerous place - and it can be made more or less dangerous by the things we say and do. And even by the way we dress. Explaining that to children in a way they can understand is difficult and does run the risk that a parent in the room will be offended and go ballistic," the columnist, Tom Brennan, wrote.

He added: "But that doesn't mean teachers shouldn't attempt to educate their students about the world around them and the risks that they face. It is very important that they understand those things as best they can."

Stop the Crazy US Climate Crap In This Country

China emits more greenhouse gas than the entire developed world combined, a new report has claimed.

The research by Rhodium Group says China emitted 27% of the world's greenhouse gases in 2019.

The US was the second-largest emitter at 11% while India was third with 6.6% of emissions, the think tank said.

Scientists warn that without an agreement between the US and China it will be hard to avert dangerous climate change.

China's emissions more than tripled over the previous three decades, the report from the US-based Rhodium Group added.

The Asian giant has the world's largest population, so its per person emissions are still far behind the US, but the research said those emissions have increased too, tripling over the course of two decades.

Greenhouse gas emissions (%). . .
Greenhouse gas emissions (%). . .

China has vowed to reach net-zero emissions by 2060 with a peak no later than 2030.

President Xi Jinping reiterated his pledge at a climate summit organised by US President Joe Biden last month.

"This major strategic decision is made based on our sense of responsibility to build a community with a shared future for mankind and our own need to secure sustainable development," President Xi said at the time.

However, China is heavily reliant on coal power.

The country is currently running 1,058 coal plants - more than half the world's capacity.

Under the Paris accord, agreed in 2015, 197 nations pledged to limit global warming to below 2C. However, the world is far from meeting that commitment.

Central to the Paris Agreement are Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These are targets intended to cut emissions.

NDCs represent the commitments by each country - under the Paris pact - to reduce their own national emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

According to the Climate Action Tracker, an independent scientific analysis that tracks government climate action, China's NDC rating is "highly insufficient" and "are not at all consistent with holding warming to below 2C".

President Biden's climate envoy, John Kerry travelled to China last month to meet counterparts and discuss how to work together to combat climate change, despite diplomatic tensions between the two countries on a range of other issues.

In a joint statement, the two sides committed to working together and with other countries on tackling climate change including specific action on emissions.

Leaders will come together for COP26 - a crucial climate change summit - in November in Glasgow, UK to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement.

What Does Vietnam & Afghanistan Have in Common

The politicians lost both wars, not the men and women who were on the ground. Fighting a war with your hands tied will never work but the elected idiots in DC will never understand. I remember a General once saying "You have to hit the enemy so hard they beg for it to stop". This has recently been a problem for the services as DC will NOT let them hit hard enough to reach that goal.

Yes I can hear some saying innocent will die and they are right. With a police action and not a war to win, more will die as they have. All wars are ugly and people will die. There is nothing that can be done except never have a war and that is not possible.

The politicians need to get out of the business of playing solder and let the generals make the decisions. If not, get rid of the army, navy, air force and marines and just kiss your ass goodby.

Try to image Biden or Harris making a decision to protect us from Russia, China, or Iran. Hell, they can't stop illegals from coming in at will.

PORK IS BACK

Government waste is back and Pelosi along with Republicans are wasting OUR F-ING money again on hiking toilets, dog parks and other crap.

Pork Spending on both sides is back in full bloom and WE the dumbs People put up with it and continue to elect on both side people who piss our money away. Nothing will change until we vote out all who waste our money and they don't understand it is our F-ing money and not their's to waste as BOTH parties do.

My god, wake the hell up folks and stop this or get ready to watch INFLATION go wild and the dollar used as toilet paper.

BLM - VERY VERY SHADY GROUP WHO ENRICHES ONLY THEMSELVES AND FRIENDS??????????????

Patrisse Cullors, the co-founder and executive director of Black Lives Matter’s national arm, has funneled business to a company led by a man she identified as the father of her only child, a Daily Caller News Foundation review of business records, interviews and social media posts found.

The company, Trap Heals, was formed just days before partnering with Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation and later became the charity’s “lead developer of the art & cultural efforts,” according to business records, interviews and an archived version of Trap Heals’ website. Two other activist groups Cullors led paid Trap Heals a collective $238,000 to produce an election night livestream and for consulting services, campaign finance records show.

In numerous public mentions of their work, Cullors and Turner did not disclose that they had a child together. But in at least one instance, Turner said Cullors was directly involved in Trap Heals’ partnership with BLM Global Network.

The executive director of the watchdog group CharityWatch, Laurie Styron, told the DCNF that a nonprofit leader shouldn’t be involved in hiring a vendor if they have a personal relationship.

“To maintain public trust, it is vital that leaders not only avoid any impropriety in practice, but also avoid the appearance of it,” Styron said. “In other words, even if the consultant or vendor hired is the best one for the job, if that vendor has a personal relationship with the leader who hired them, additional steps should be taken to prove to the public that this arrangement is in the best interest of the charity and was made at arm’s length.”

This new evidence of Cullors’ potential self-dealing follows criticism from other black activists and reports that she had purchased four homes across the country since 2016 for a total of $3.2 million. Additionally, Cullors received upwards of $20,000 a month from one of her activist groups, which also spent $26,000 at a luxury resort, the DCNF previously reported.

Black Lives Matter Greater New York Leader Hawk Newsome, a prominent New York-based black activist who is not associated with BLM Global Network, called for an “independent investigation” of BLM Global Network’s finances during an interview with the New York Post in April, though the group denied that its resources were put toward real estate purchases for any employee or volunteer.

A group of 10 BLM chapters accused BLM Global Network in November of providing little to no support to the local groups. They also said the national arm provided no acceptable financial transparency surrounding the money it raised since its founding in 2013.

The local chapters’ statement said Cullors was the “sole board member” of BLM Global Network and became the group’s executive director in July 2020 “against the will of most chapters and without their knowledge.”

BLM Global Network identified Cullors as its co-founder and executive director in a report detailing its accomplishments in 2020.

CharityWatch’s Styron, speaking generally, told the DCNF that a nonprofit’s board of directors should select the best vendor when significant payments are expected and that “[a]ny interested party should recuse themselves.”

The local BLM groups’ accusation followed a DCNF report that BLM Global Network spent a combined $4.5 million on payroll, consultants and travel in its 2017, 2018 and 2019 fiscal years, a figure that encompassed 83.3% of the group’s total spending during the three-year period, according to audited financial statements prepared by its former fiscal sponsor, Thousand Currents, a California-based charity.

During the same time period, however, BLM Global Network provided only $328,000 to outside organizations, the financial statements show, such as the local, independent and autonomous BLM chapters across the country that, according to Cullors, are the ones responsible for carrying out the group’s mission.

BLM Global Network’s then-Executive Director Kailee Scales told the DCNF in June 2020 that the group’s consulting and personnel expenditures reflected “in kind” fundraising and programmatic assistance provided to local BLM chapters.

Despite BLM Global Network spending millions between 2017 and 2019, Cullors said in an April interview with Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill that the group didn’t have “real dollars” until after the May 2020 police killing of George Floyd, which, according to the Associated Press, drove more than $90 million into BLM’s coffers in 2020.

“We have to build an organization. It’s the first time we’ve ever had real dollars and we have to build a black institution that can challenge policing, that can take care of black communities,” Cullors told Hill. “The whole point of these articles and these recent attacks against me are to discredit me but also to discredit the movement.”

Cullors added that criticisms of her real estate purchases are “wanting.”

“The way that I live my life is in direct support to black people, including my black family members, first and foremost. For so many black folks who are able to invest in themselves and their community, they chose to invest in their family, and that’s what I chose to do,” Cullors told Hill. “So, I see my money as not my own. I see it as my family’s money as well.”

The DCNF previously reported that Cullors’ consulting form, Janaya and Patrisse Consulting, received upwards of $20,000 a month in 2019 from Reform LA Jails, one of Cullors’ groups that paid Turner’s company, according to the group’s campaign finance filings.

Reform LA Jails said in a statement that it provided Cullors “market rate compensation for serving as the chief executive of a historic and successful $5 million dollar campaign in California” and added that it is “sexist and racist to expect an executive level Black woman to not be paid for their work.”

Reform LA Jails also dropped $26,000 at a luxury Malibu beach resort in 2019 for “meetings,” according to California campaign finance records previously reported by the DCNF.

Cullors did not disclose that she has a personal relationship with Turner during interviews with the Los Angeles TimesThe Root, and Bustle despite mentioning his involvement with her political groups and art projects.

Cullors herself published a lengthy interview she conducted with Turner in the nonprofit news outlet Prism in April 2020 in which she identified Turner as a “cultural architect,” but did not disclose Turner as the father of her child.

‘Black Lives Matter Global Network gave us a contract’

Cullors identified Turner as the father of her only child in a 2019 post on her verified and public Instagram profile. The DCNF did not link to the post in order to protect the privacy of the child.

“This past decade I healed my relationship with @iamdamonturner,” Cullors wrote in the post. “We entered the decade developing a friendship and then having a baby.”

Turner said in a May 2020 interview on the “What We Gon Do?” podcast that he originally intended Trap Heals to produce a single music album, but said the company “turned more so into what it is now because Patrisse Cullors of Black Lives Matter” invited him to participate with BLM at the Afropunk Atlanta art festival in October 2018. Trap Heals also sells sweatshirts on its web page for as much as $145.

Cullors “hit me and said, ‘Hey what have you been working on?’” Turner recalled. “I sent her the deck that I was working on, and that sort of gave us the opportunity to do this really cool art installation.”

“We had games, pillows on the floor, cherry blossom trees. And that became sort of like the destination for the festival that year. Everybody knew that something just happened,” Turner said. “As we began digging deeper into that idea, Black Lives Matter Global Network gave us a contract to support them in their cultural efforts.”

Turner did not disclose during the interview that he had a personal relationship with Cullors before BLM granted the contract.

Turner founded Trap Heals on Oct. 9, 2018, just days before it partnered with BLM Global Network at the Oct. 13 and 14 Afropunk festival, California business records show. Turner is the sole manager of Trap Heals, according to an Oct. 21, 2018, business filing to the California Secretary of State.

Turner lists prior experience as an event manager on his LinkedIn profile, which states he served as the art and cultural programming director for a Los Angeles-based nonprofit between 2011 and 2014.

Another group Cullors co-founded and chaired, BLM PAC, paid Trap Heals $74,150 for an “election day event production” on Nov. 3, 2020, and a second payment of $74,150 on Nov. 30, 2020, for “event streaming production services,” Federal Election Commission records show.

BLM PAC and Trap Heals produced an election night live show that streamed on Cullors’ personal YouTube page, according to Respect Mag, though no such video is saved on her channel.

A third group Cullors led and co-founded, Reform LA Jails, paid Trap Heals a total of $90,000 between 2019 and 2020, campaign finance records show.

Trap Heals organized “day parties” for the jail reform group, which initiated conversations in the Los Angeles community around jail reform and mental health awareness while providing good food and music, Turner said during a February 2020 interview with Prism.

Trap Heals served as the “lead developer of the art & cultural efforts” of BLM Global Network in 2018, an archived version of the Trap Heals website stated. Turner’s company also executed “#BLM healing experiences” at three events that year, including one at Afropunk.

Trap Heals also facilitated healing experiences for BLM Global Network at ComplexCon in Long Beach, California, in November 2018 and at Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2018, according to the archive.

It’s not clear if BLM Global Network paid Turner’s company for its services.

Federal law requires charities to disclose contractors that received more than $100,000 in any single tax year in their Form 990s. The fiscal sponsor for BLM Global Network did not list Trap Heals as a contractor in its Form 990 tax filing for its 2019 fiscal year, which covered the timeframe between July 2018 and June 2019.

BLM Global Network spent nearly $833,000 on consultants the year it contracted Trap Heals, according to audited financial statements prepared by its former fiscal sponsor Thousand Currents, a California-based charity. The financial statements do not identify the consultants that received payments from BLM Global Network.

BLM Global Network spent $433,000 and $333,000 on consultants in its 2018 and 2017 fiscal years, respectively, the Thousand Currents financial statements show.

The Tides Foundation announced in July it took over as BLM Global Network’s fiscal sponsor.

BLM Global Network, BLM PAC, Reform LA Jails, Thousand Currents and Trap Heals did not return requests for comment.

FREEDOM LOST

I am 72 now and my father told me when I was about 12 to 13 to be sure I was armed for the time would come when we would have to once again fight for our freedoms as he said they were being slowly taken. I thought he was wrong and told he so. He was so very right that many years ago as the time will come soon as the various governments, State, Local and the Federal Government are acting like dictators. They love the fact that "We the People" have behaved so well as they tell us to stay home, wear a mask, close your business, and the list goes on.

It is NOT in the power of this government to TELL us as they are not KINGS with that kind of power. This government is and at least should be controlled by WE THE PEOPLE and not by some lifetime elected people who wish nothing but power to do as they wish. These are some of the same people who used OUR money to pay off sexual assaults on interns and others. Ever notice how quick that story went silent? The no news news media is helping control us and that crap needs to cease. This is to bad as this was once a wonderful place to live and I along with millions of others grew up in the best of times.

Today the young people will decide how far down the rat hole this country goes and the way it is looking, the bottom of that hole is rushing toward us. 30 TRILLION in debt and counting as once the GDP is less then the debt, the fat lady will sing Good-bye to America is it has been since 1776.

  • If a country is unable to pay its debt, it defaults, which could cause a financial panic in the domestic and international markets. The higher the debt-to-GDP ratio, the less likely the country will pay back its debt and the higher its risk of default.

All this falls on BOTH parties and of course WE the People as WE have voted this crap to happen. YOU the People keep voting for people who wish to control you and so many of us are too damn stupid to see it.

READ THE BLUE AND GET READY, IT IS COMING AND VERY QUICK NOW.

CHENEY NEEDS TO GO

Stood with Nancy Pelosi and voted to IMPEACH President Trump;

>>> Is so angered with Donald Trump that she's said he "doesn't have a role in the future of the GOP."  President Trump garnered more votes than any Republican in history – and made major inroads in African-American and Hispanic communities.  Yet Liz Cheney doesn't want his help;

>>> Recently told Fox News' host Neil Cavuto that she "would not" vote for Donald Trump if he were the nominee in 2024 – effectively admitting she prefers Joe Biden's socialist agenda to Donald Trump's America First one;

>>> Voted AGAINST bringing ObamaCare repeal legislation to the House floor for a repeal vote;

>>> Praised Dr. "Never-Ending Lockdowns" Fauci as "one of the finest public servants we have ever had," adding that "we need his expertise and judgement to defeat this virus" – and that "all Americans should be thanking him [Fauci] every day"; and

>>> Stood against Trump and successful GOP Governors like Florida's Ron DeSantis on reopening the economy – claiming it would result in "thousands of Americans of all ages" to "lay dying because we have failed to do what's necessary to stop the virus."

The truth is, Liz Cheney is so out-of-touch that even GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called her obsession with attacking grassroots Republicans "unproductive."

RINO Never-Trumpers like U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and former Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) are planning to campaign for her in Wyoming!

Even Google – one of the “wokest” corporations in all of Big Tech – is backing her.

In fact, according to official FEC reports, Liz Cheney is “the No. 2 recipient of donations from PACs associated with corporations and trade associations, trailing only Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for the top spot among all members of Congress."

The Staff: It isn't only that she hates Trump but she has become example of the party trash and other so called leaders support her. I will NOT support her or Kevin and the others mentioned here.
