There is a big difference of opinion about "Data Centers" and maybe everyone should be listening to all the info they can and also learn on their own. Many say Water and cooling is one of the centers main problems but is it.
If you think about it our cars are cooled and see how they work. Image a Data Center being cooled with Science instead of scaring people about water usage. A closed cooling system to recycle the liquid that is used for cooling which could be exposed to "Nitrogen Gas" in a controlled environment thus keeping the liquid at a temperature which would fully control the liquid temperature. Such a system would remove the water issue. We can get to the moon, we can do this.
The other item folks complain about is "Power" and that can also be addressed to some extent. When the building is constructed, cover the entire building with Solar Collectors and not only that area but the entire drive/parking areas also. This would not only benefit the center but also protect the employees vehicles from weather related issues. This should help reduce the centers electrical use and once that is shown, determine what else may be needed for another add-on another system. The Data Center would be responsible for any increase in property owners increased cost for electrical power.
Cities can also have the Data Centers contribute to their communities by paying for new schools, reduced property taxes, and expanded health care services. Fire and Police can also be enhanced from fees generated by the Data Centers.
Cities and some people stop the bitching and work this out as the Center may end up helping Americans in many ways we have not considered yet.
