Charlie Crist, the Democratic nominee for Florida governor, said Wednesday that he doesn’t want supporters of Governor Ron DeSantis to vote for him in November.
“Those who support the governor should stay with him,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday. “I don’t want your vote. If you have that hate in your heart, keep it there.”
During an appearance on MSNBC he made similar comments about DeSantis being hateful: “I’m going to beat [DeSantis] because I’m running on love, and love always wins. If he wants to run on hate, culture wars, dividing people, and making people hate each other, that’s his turf. It’s not mine. I’m on different turf, and it’s what Floridians deserve.”

Guy Reffitt was sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in the Capitol riot.
His daughter told Insider that "it would only be just for former President Trump to be convicted."
She said the "modern American family is becoming more fragile as the political climate rises."
For Peyton Reffitt, 18, what began as debates around the dinner table ended with her family falling apart and her father receiving the longest jail sentence yet for his involvement in the Trump-inspired Capitol riot.
American family life in the age of Trump has taken on a toxic dimension, the young woman from Texas said.
Peyton said her family's disintegration started as angry shouting matches between father and children and was completed when her brother, Jackson Reffitt, then 18 years old, turned his father in to the FBI.
After the Capitol riot in 2021, Guy Reffitt, 49, returned to Wylie, a Dallas suburb, and told Jackson and then-16-year-old Peyton that they would be "traitors" if they turned him in.
But Jackson had already tipped off the FBI in December 2020, after becoming increasingly concerned by his father's radicalized right-wing rhetoric.
"We are an example of how the modern American family is becoming more fragile as the political climate rises," Peyton said in a message to Insider. "There is not enough protecting American families from the effect of propaganda and misinformation."

The movement centers on the myth that only 3% of colonists fought during the Revolutionary War. Members view themselves as "modern-day versions of those revolutionaries, fighting against a tyrannical US government rather than the British."
On the steps of the courthouse immediately after their father was sentenced, Peyton and her sister, Sarah, attempted to make sense of what happened to their family in front of TV cameras. They went viral on social media when Peyton told journalists that "Trump deserves life in prison if my father is in prison for this long."
Peyton believes her family — and others like them — have been treated as "disposable pawns" in a power struggle.
"The former President Trump is not entirely responsible for my father's actions that day on January 6. However, in my opinion, I believe he used orchestrated language that uses subliminal projection, leading up to and the day of, that in a real way bypasses his supporters' rational thought and appeals to their deeper emotions," she told Insider in a text.

"I think it would only be just for former President Trump to be convicted and serve the longest sentence about the events that occurred on January 6, 2021," Peyton said.
A prison sentence for Trump "would be the accountability to set a true precedent for our future as a nation to protect all American families and democracy itself," she said.

Over the past few years, families and friendships have been destroyed by the rise of extremist views, misinformation, and conspiracy theories.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted in the first few months of the Trump presidency, found that 16 percent of respondents said they had stopped communicating with a friend or family member after the 2016 election.
Jacquelyn Hammond, 47, a bartender in Asheville, North Carolina, who had cut contact with her Trump-supporting mother, Carol, told Reuters that "Trump is like the catalyst of an earthquake that just divided two continents of thought. Once the Earth divides like that, there's no going back."
Even though her father is incarcerated and her brother estranged from the family, Peyton said she sees a light at the end of the tunnel and believes her family can heal, in time.
"As a family, we do not need to understand each other to the fullest extent, but to appreciate each other's differences is a beautiful lesson that broadens our perceptions without judgment," she said.
The Staff: After reading this I want I throw up. At what point do people accept responsibility for their actions and stop blaming others. I watched the Trump speech on Jan. 6 and never heard him say to riot, carry guns and harm anyone at the Capital. People make their own mistakes and god knows I have but I also paid for those. Ponomarev, who now lives in Ukraine, said that Dugina (aka Platonova) had called for the destruction of Ukrainians, and was a voice calling for violence and murder in the occupied territory. In particular, she gave justifications for the murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the occupied Olenivka prison camp.
“This action (the assassination of Dugina), like many other direct partisan actions carried out on the territory of Russia in recent months, was carried out by the National Republican Army (NRA),” said Ponomarev.
“We have established contact with its fighters with the help of our Rospartizan Telegram channel, which covers the growing wave of resistance in Russia.”
He read out the manifesto of the NRA fighters, which was also published on the Rospartizan Telegram channel.
“We, Russian activists, military servicemen and politicians, are now partisans and fighters of the National Republican Army,” reads the manifesto. “We outlaw warmongers, robbers and oppressors of the peoples of Russia.”
The partisans call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin a usurper of power and a war criminal, but they repeat the thesis of Russian propaganda about “fraternal peoples.”
“We declare President Putin a usurper of power and a war criminal who amended the Constitution, unleashed a fratricidal war between the Slavic peoples and sent Russian soldiers to certain and senseless death,” states the NRA manifesto. “Poverty and coffins for some, palaces for others. This is the essence of his policy.”
The manifesto also contains threats against Putin, the Russian government, and security officials.
“Putin will be deposed and destroyed by us,” state the partisans. “We declare officials of the government of the Russian Federation and regional administrations to be accomplices of the usurper – those who do not resign their powers will be destroyed by us. We announce businessmen who earn their money on corruption and connections with officials, traitors to the Motherland and accomplices of the usurper… We declare employees of power structures as accomplices of the usurper. Those who don’t lay down their arms and take off their shoulder straps will be destroyed by us.”
NRA members call on Russian army soldiers to stop shooting “at our brothers from other countries – Georgia, Syria and others.”
Ponomarev, while reading out the manifesto, also mentioned Ukraine, although this is not in the original text.
The NRA called on all Russians to join their ranks and raise the "white-blue-white flag of the new Russia instead of the tricolor disgraced by Putin's government."
“We will give protection to all who follow our call,” the organization said.
They also said that all who carry out their plan "up to the change of regime" are exempt from liability under the laws of the usurper. In addition, the group promises "after the victory" to immediately release all those illegally convicted by the Putin authorities.
Ponomarev stated that he supported the actions of his "comrades" from the NRA. He said they were not at war with the civilian population and would not carry out actions against civilian objects.
“I call on everyone who is ready to fight Putinism not in words but in deeds to join our ranks,” he said.
In a commentary to Ukrainian web site Ukrainska Pravda, Ponomarev said that he has been in contact with representatives of the organization since April 2022.
On the night of Aug 20, Daria Dugina, the daughter of "Putin ideologist" Alexander Dugin, was killed in a car bombing near Moscow, Russia. Like her father, Dugina was actively engaged in propaganda, justified the Russian war against Ukraine, and advocated the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Kremlin propagandists blamed Ukraine and the Ukrainian political leadership for the murder of the daughter of Putin's ally, demanding strikes on the "decision-making centers" in Kyiv – including the President's Office and the Central Directorate of the SBU.
Kind of tired of her and wish she would go away. Some things I believe happened during the 2020 election and they were caused by many. There were so many things that it reminded me of Nixon/Chicago years ago when the election was stolen from him and Kennedy won. He could have demanded a recount and the dead people would have been found but he decided the country could not take it at that time. He put country before himself which Trump did not. Ego I am sure had a lot to do with it.
