The Deep State called on Joe Biden to cancel the First Amendment.

And Joe Biden answered the call.

Now Biden’s hired a shocking new anti-First Amendment henchman to do his dirty work for him.

Timothy Wu is a radical professor from Columbia University. He has called the First Amendment “obsolete.” And now he is about to be one of Biden’s top Big Tech advisors.

Journalist Matt Taibbi summarizes Wu’s views on free speech as such: “Those who place faith in the First Amendment to solve speech dilemmas should “admit defeat” and imagine new solutions for repelling foreign propaganda, fake news, and other problems.”

While Wu’s views may not be controversial on an authoritarian Leftist campus like Columbia University – where most students and faculty surely believe that the Constitution is a racist document that should be replaced with the Constitution of the Soviet Union – many are terrified that someone with government power who’s responsible for overseeing Big Tech would hold such views.

After all, the First Amendment is a core part of the American system. As Thomas Jefferson once said, in a quote that is etched on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial, “I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

One can only imagine how Jefferson would have felt about a person like Timothy Wu.

What’s perhaps even more disturbing is that this isn’t just one isolated hiring, it is part of a massive trend within the Democratic Party – which now controls all of Congress as well as the Presidency – towards hatred of free speech and hostility towards the First Amendment.

Jennifer Palmieri, one of Hillary Clinton’s top aides, Tweeted back in January a threat towards Big Tech trying to force them to crack down on free speech.

She said, “It has not escaped my attention that the day social media companies decided there actually IS more they could do to police Trump’s destructive behavior was the same day they learned Democrats would chair all the congressional committees that oversee them.”

In other words, Democrats plan to use their regulatory power over social media companies to force them to censor conservative views.

Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts made that very clear when, at a Senate hearing, he stated, “The issue is not that the companies before us today are taking too many posts down; the issue is that they are leaving too many dangerous posts up.”

Of course, “dangerous” in the mind of progressives like Markey means anything the Democratic establishment disagrees with.

This all fits squarely within the worldview of Timothy Wu. And Democrats increasingly may have to be more open about their true aims – to repeal the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Because the text of the First Amendment is the law of the land, it is clear, and they cannot avoid it. “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Those are the words that give Timothy Wu – and Joe Biden – nightmares.
